The report quoted Compal Chairman Rock Hsu as saying that monthly output was expected at 1.2 million units, all of which would be exported. Compal has said that by 2013 it aims to make half of all its computers at its US$500 million plant in Vietnam's northern province of Vinh Phuc, adjacent to Hanoi. Compal now makes nearly all of its computers at a complex near Shanghai, where costs have been growing amid rising living standards. Some other of Taiwan’s PC-making companies, including Hon Hai Precision, the island’s largest electronics maker, and Wistron Corp., have announced plans for PC plants in Vietnam.
