Date: 05 September 2008
Rüsselsheim. A partnership between the Government of the German region (Land) of Hesse and ERTICO Partners, Adam Opel GmbH and Continental AG, along with Dambach Werke GmbH has been formed in support of the “traffic jam-free Hesse 2015” initiative. A cooperation agreement for the DIAMANT Project was signed in August in the German town of Rüsselsheim.
DIAMANT (Dynamic Information and Applications for Mobile safety with Adaptive Networks and Telematic infrastructure), which is also the German word for “diamond”, forms part of the “traffic jam-free Hesse 2015” initiative. DIAMANT will explore Car-2-Car and Car-2-infrastructure technology. During the coming twelve months, Continental will work with Opel to equip a series of demonstration vehicles with communication modules and the corresponding control system software. At the same time, an initial test section of roads in Germany’s Rhine-Main region is to be equipped with the corresponding infrastructure, consisting of roadside units. These transmitter/receiver units located by the side of the road are designed to provide a communications link between the central control point and individual motor vehicles. The roadside units have been developed and manufactured by Dambach GmbH.
