The Floridian venue will also auction off a 2010 Ferrari California
Hosted by celebrity game show host and Mr. Clean look-alike Howie Mandel, the 3rd Annual Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance is set to be a smash hit, with charity auctions of the first U.S.-spec Audi R8 V10 and Ferrari California among the festivities.
The Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI made its North American debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, but it has not yet been officially confirmed for the U.S. The car's appearance at this Florida event seems to indicate the car will be crossing the pond. The car is said to be a U.S.-spec model, and will be crossing the auction block sometime after 7pm Saturday, February 21 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club.
The R8 V10's arrival on U.S. soil isn't really surprising, since the U.S., despite its weak economy at the moment, is still the largest single market for nearly every luxury and sports car manufacturer in the world. Official still confirmation is still forthcoming, with Audi spokesman Christian Bokich putting the car's U.S. arrival at late 2010 if at all, but the event's news of the U.S.-spec car going up for auction will be a welcome sight for Audi aficionados.
The R8 V10 5.2 FSI is an impressive car, adding to the finely balanced R8 platform a compact and powerful 5.2L V10 engine generating 525hp (386kW) and 391lb-ft (530Nm) of torque, rocketing the car to 62mph (100km/h) in just 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 196mph (316km/h).
Though its release isn't quite as recent, Ferrari's sensuous California will also be taking the stage, with the high bidder taking home the first U.S. delivered model as well. The 460hp (343kW) Italian stallion nearly matches the more powerful Audi's performance with a 'sub-4 second' 0-62mph (100km/h) run.
Tickets for the Saturday Concours, Dinner and Auction event with live performance by Howie Mandel run $500 per person.
