WASHINGTON, January 22, 2009 - The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:
IBRD Loan: US$69.7 million TERMS: Maturity = 26 years; Grace= 6 years Project Description: The additional financing will continue to provide the city of Beirut and the greater Beirut area with the basic institutional framework and critical investments needed to maximize the efficiency of the existing urban transport infrastructure. Specifically, the project seeks to improve traffic management, regulate on-street parking in selected zones, improve traffic flow along seven main corridors, improve transport planning, and organize public transport services.
